About Us

Our History

As a leader in infrastructure construction and maintenance, the goal of the Colas USA Family of Companies is to set the pace in our industry and be a model of excellence by providing safe, innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions for our customers.

Colas USA is part of the Colas Group, the worldwide leader in transportation infrastructure construction and maintenance. The Colas Group is active in the construction and maintenance of road, air, rail, and maritime transport infrastructure, urban development projects, and recreational facilities. With 65,000 employees spanning 50 countries around the world, the Colas Group carries out over 50,000 projects each year, backed by a tight international network of construction materials facilities, including: aggregates mining sites, asphalt plants, ready-mix concrete plants, liquid asphalt terminals, and emulsion plants.

In 1979, Colas USA began operations in the Northeast with the acquisition of Barrett Paving Materials, a 150-year-old company. Since then, we have continued to expand throughout the U.S. via a number of acquisitions as well as organic growth. Today, our network of companies allows us to provide most of our products and services anywhere in the United States, from Alaska to Florida and New York to Southern California. With over 5,000 employees during the peak of our construction season, we operate in more than 50 regional offices throughout the nation.

Our strong decentralized network of local business units work closely with our customers to provide them with solutions in the areas of preservation, maintenance, and expansion of their infrastructure, as well as new construction. We are committed to developing and improving products and construction services based on recycling of material, improving energy efficiency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Our association with the Colas Group gives us access to a world of expertise and resources that we make available to our customers through our various local business units.
